GitHub Trending: pingdotgg/t3code — a control surface for your coding agents

pingdotgg/t3code gained 14,580 stars this week — the biggest weekly jump on the trending page. It's an open 'agent harness control surface': drive the coding agents already set up on your machine — Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Grok Build, OpenCode, Google Antigravity, fx — from an iOS/Android app, a web app, or an Electron desktop app. It's free, open source (MIT), and very explicitly early.
What it actually does
- Controls local agent CLIs on your machine from another device — the agents stay local, you just steer them.
- Install:
curl -fsSL https://t3.codes/install.sh | sh, thent3to start the server and open the local web app.t3 service installkeeps it in the background. - Desktop app (Electron) on Windows/macOS/Linux — winget, scoop, Homebrew cask, .deb, AUR and nixpkgs packages all maintained in the repo.
- Works with subscriptions you already have: Codex CLI, Claude Code, Cursor CLI, Grok Build CLI, OpenCode, Antigravity — install and authenticate at least one first.
- Mobile apps on the App Store and Play Store (looked up: yes, they exist) plus t3.codes as the web app.
Why it's trending this week
Remote agent control is the natural next step after agent CLIs arrive — you want to steer a long task from the couch, not babysit a terminal. T3 Code is the first open-source attempt with this much polish on the mobile side, and it's from the T3 (theo.gg) ecosystem, which has a lot of trust behind it in TypeScript land.
Who it's for — and what to expect
- People who already run agent CLIs daily and want phone-sized control of long-running tasks.
- Early adopters — the README says plainly: very early, expect bugs, mostly not accepting contributions yet.
- TypeScript developers — it's a pnpm monorepo with apps, packages, infra, evals; good codebase to read to understand how agent harnesses get built.
I'd treat it as a power tool, not a daily driver yet — the honest trade for being first at this layer is rough edges. MIT licensed, ships from main, npx t3@latest works without installing. Repository: github.com/pingdotgg/t3code.
